Background DonorsChoose.org grew out of a Bronx high school where teachers experienced first-hand the scarcity of learning materials in our public schools. Charles Best, then a social studies teacher, sensed that many people would like to help distressed public schools, but were frustrated by a lack of influence over their donations. He created DonorsChoose.org in 2000 so that individuals could connect directly with classrooms in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America post classroom project requests for funding on DonorsChoose.org. Requests range from pencils for a poetry writing unit, to violins for a school recital, to microscope slides for a biology class. Just like on Kickstarter.com, people can browse project requests and give any amount of money to the project of their choosing. Once a project reaches its funding goal, materials are delivered to the school. This incredible organization is in need of rich media to serve not only as a tutorial and explanation of what they do, but also as a tool to raise awareness and attract new philanthropists to DonorsChoose.org. Project Objective Your mission is to create a powerful and inspiring video educating people about DonorsChoose.org. The video should also as a tool to raise awareness and attract new donors. Videos will be evaluated based on – – How well they explain what DonorsChoose.org is and what it does in a simple and concise manner. – The level of creativity exhibited in the video. This contest will be worth a total of $10,000 and consist of one phase. Create a 30 – 60 second video that explains DonorsChoose.org, raises awareness for the organization and attracts new donors. Music: MusicRevolution.com, an online marketplace for royalty-free production music, is making professional tracks available to Tongal members at no charge for a limited use comp license for their submissions to the DonorsChoose Video Project. MusicRevolution has preselected tracks specifically for the Project available via download link in the Excel spreadsheet on the Project Files section of this page. Tongal members are being provided with a royalty-free license at no charge or obligation, limited for use only in connection with a submission to the DonorsChoose campaign on Tongal. Before downloading a MusicRevolution track, please read the License Agreement. Any use of a MusicRevolution track in connection with a submission will be subject to the terms of such License Agreement. Use of any MusicRevolution track outside of Tongal is strictly prohibited.
